Flensburg last in Germany, Kolding first in Denmark

As reported in my last post we made our way to Flensburg in Germany. Flensburg is one of the most northerly towns in Germany and has quite pretty town centre. The weather during our three days here was not quite so pretty. On the bright side however we were in a free stopover so we were not paying to watch the rain fall.

The site was adjacent to a huge shopping mall but as luck would have it everything was shut on Whit Monday. Sadly Sheila had developed a pretty bad toothache and everything was shut. We identified a few target dentists to visit on the Tuesday morning. I noticed that the big mall had a health centre in it so I made some investigations to discover that there was a dental facility there. First thing Tuesday morning we were in there offering our best German asking if they had any emergency appointments. The staff were delightful and as a bonus all spoke good English so we left a few minutes later with an appoinment for 4:45pm same day. I was working by that time so Sheila went alone and came back a hour later with a complete root canal treatment done and a sizeable, but worth every penny, bill.

We managed to grab a couple of pictures of Flensburg big churchy buildings because I know they are your favourites.

Managed to capture this image before the rains set in. Time on the clock 12 noon.
More of the big churchy thing

As of today (Thursday) I am on offical holiday from work for 9 days. Yay! So on the first day we celebrated by travelling into a new country for us, Denmark.

Welcome to Denmark
The first thing to notice about Denmark is that the roads are in beautiful condition. Hardly a pothole to be seen and where repairs are visible it is clear that the repairers take pride in their work. Joins were as smooth as the smoothest of smooth things you could imagine. Think of the smoothest thing then mutliply it by smooth, sort of smooth squared if you will. We do not use motorways if they can easily be avoided so our journey took us thorugh several towns on the way to Kolding. Each town seemed extremely well kept and quite picturesque. Denmark, I am impressed so far.

We arrived at Kolding and managed to get checked in to our site. Not a free one tonight but right by the marina. Very nice. The weather since I started my holidays this morning has been utterly amazing. It is beautiful so after getting settled we got out the bikes and cycled along the canal side into Kolding.

OK so, that brings you up to date on the adventure. More to come in due course.
