Four resume the adventure
On the Road Again
It is with much excitement and the greatest of pleasure that I can report that the our adventure has recommenced. After what will only be described henceforth as "The incident" when the Kayak met its untimely demise we have managed to put that behind us and have managed to replace the Kayak. We now have the Horon pronounced "Or" as in or and "on" as in on. Pretty simple really.
It is a real beauty. Way, way better than the old Kayak. The design is pretty much the same except that instead of single beds we have an island bed in the back. The vehicle is fitted with a 170 hp, 2 litre Ford engine. To give that some perspective imagine all of the horses in the grand national race pulling in the same direction. That's a lots of power, now mutiply that by four then add another ten horses just for good measure. That's 170 horse power. It's a lot of horse and our Horon, I am delighted to say glides along smoothly. The absolute icing on the cake is the fact that all that power is delivered via a magnificent AUTOMATIC gearbox. Now you might think that this is pretty ordinary and you could be right but in point of fact, in the sunny paradise known to the world as Spain, the automatic gearbox in a motorhome is about as common as ... well as common as a very uncommon thing. They are rare. They are very rare and I've got one.
So we have been on the road for a few days but I decided not to restart the adventure stories out of respect to the people tragically affected by the weather in Valencia. Spain observed three days of mourning which ended yesterday. We were so lucky to be collecting Horon whilst others were dying in horrific circumstances.
We set off from home and drove to Los Alcazares on the south coast where we spent our first couple of nights. It was a nice place with a lovely path along the coast which we walked daily.
Slept like a baby, a well behaved sleeping type baby, not a screaming, moaning, greeting and wheenging type baby. Really cosy and we were in fact too hot despite it being the last day of October.
After a couple of days we headed inland a bit to Puerto Lumbares. It wasn't the nicest town in Spain and the weather had deteriorated a bit. After a couple of beautiful days we got a bit of rain. We managed to dodge the showers but there was little see in the town so we were off again.
This time we headed to Caravaca de la Cruz which is reputed to be the fifth most religious city in the world. It is the final destination of two different pilgrimages from different parts of Spain. One roughly from the south the other form the north. We drove there though. We could have walked but that would have meant leaving Horon behind and we had no plans to do that.
You may remember about Mountie Jack who was with us on the last trip and who we decided to bring along again. He has promised to pay much more attention this time and to keep us safe from events vaguely resembling "the incident". He is on his final warning though. One mistake and that is it.
I'll post a few more photos as time goes on but I thought I might include a door because I know you might be disappointed if there's no door.
This door is an entrance to a nunnery here in the town. It is pretty impressive.
We have a small defect with the van so we are heading tomorrow back towards where we bought it to get a minor repair carried out. It will take us a couple of days or more to get there because we are not rushing.

Love this. You guys enjoy the road trip and stay safe
