Three go on an adventure

It is Thursday 18th of April 2024 and today three intrepid adventurers set sail on a voyage to who knows where. David and Sheila entered the Kayak and headed north from their tiny home village of Casas del Señor in Spain not too far inland from Alicante. Their Kayak is the latest palindromic addition to the family. A 4 berth motorhome built on a Renault chassis with all the mod cons necessary for life on the road. Let's hope we have packed everything we need. The last few days have been a hectic scramble to get the things in place for the journey. We bought a Skoda Octavia estate in the UK with the intention of moving some stuff to Spain and then bringing it back to immediatley sell again but, to cut a long story short, it is now sitting with Spanish registration plates, a permanent, but temporarily neglected member of the family.

With the sat nav set to avoid motorways and toll roads we set off for a leisurely drive to La Roda our first planned stopover. The roads were in generally very good condition and were, to all intents and purposes, empty. It was the most pleasurable drive in lovely contryside with the sun blazing and the air conditioning set to cool. Rather appropriately there are hundreds of Don Quixote wind turbines that elegantly grace the hillsides of this area which is (mas o menos) the right part of the country Quixoteland.

Most of the roads were just like this

Little almond trees

We arrived in the early evening and had tea in Juanitas Restaurant where there is a huge carpark and you are welcome to stay overnight. Hopefully a peaceful night. This is also a truck stop so we can hear the refrigerated truck nearby humming away. It is far enough not to be a nuisance. Sweet dreams.
