Moving Day

In golf they say that Saturday is "moving day" but for us it is unsually Thursday. Thursday is one of my two days off in a week so we usually like to move to a new location and check out the sights.

Before leaving Groningen we had a walk last night alongside the canal. I mentioned in a previous post that they still do ship building here so I thought I would add a couple of pictures to demostrate that. The Molvik and the Jorvik registered in Limassol Cyprus look soon to be ready for launch. They slide sideways into the canal. Would like to be there to see that.

So today we were up, up and away and moved eastwards until we crossed the border and added our seventh country to the list. We are now in Germany just outside the city of Bremen. We both learned German at school but after trying to master Spanish for the last few years all that comes out when trying to form a German sentence is a mixture of German and Spanish. Maybe Gernish or Spanman is actually a language in the making, who knows.

We parked up in the site and decided to walk into town to get a bite to eat and check out some of the sights. Weather was dodgy at best. We came through some very heavy showers as we travelled today but we set off in fair weather with umbrellas at the ready. It was described as a 5km walk into the city centre but in reality it was 7.5km so by the time we walked in and back we have added another 15km to the tally. Pretty impressive for a couple of auld yins.

Bremen is a really historical town. It is a shame that we had to hurry round dodging the showers. If it is nice tomorrow we might go back for a more leisurely look. There was the usual selection of big churchy buildings and a very famous statue of an animal on the back of an animal on the back of an animal on the back of an animal. Send your answers as to what those animals are on the back of a fifty pound note. Winner receives a genuine small replica worth at least 5 Euro purchased in the local tat shop.

Here are a few other impressive looking buildings in the heart of Bremen

Big churchy like building with green spires
Not quite so churchy looking but old and impressive

Mountie Jack has been moaning at me for some time because I have been fogetting to give him a mention. He managed a selfie today while I was getting him strapped into his seat so he forwarded it to me from his mobile and begged me to add it into the blog. So here it is. He thinks he looks rather splendid up front there but I'll let you all be the judges. Do you want to see more of him in the blog? He assures me that you do!

OK that's about all the news for today.
