On the road again

Well after some time visiting the rellies in Scotland and doing a couple of music gigs we are finally on the road again. We are heading southwards for our rendezvous with the Harwich to Hook-of-Holland ferry.  En route we stopped off in Cumbria to meet up with a work colleague from my new company. Lucy is my big boss and since the company is almost exclusively an online entity we have dozens of colleagues that we feel we know really well but who we have never actually met. We enjoyed a coffee and a natter and avoided too much shop talk. Very pleasant and lovely to be able to put a real face to the onscreen head that I usually see.

After that we cut across country to meet with an old pal from my Bahrain days. Martyn Wharrie was an absolute gentleman when we had the pleasure of his company in Bahrain and I am delighted to say that nothing has happened in the interim to diminish his gentlemanliness (if that is a word). If not, well it is now. Martyn lives now in Driffield in the East Riding of Yorkshire and this morning we did our 5K walk along the canal side in Driffield.

After a lovely lunch with Martyn and a good old catch up reminiscing about people and places we were back on the road again looking for a place to spend a couple of nights while I take care of a couple of busy work days. We ended up in Ingoldmells. Where? I hear you exclaim, somewhat incredulously. Ingoldmells, I repeat. Ingoldmells is the home of Butlins Skegness and is a "town" which appears to the casual observer as a town that exists only to serve as an entertainment centre for tourists.  I took a photo of the only building that resembles anything normal. Another old churchy affair. It looks like they invested in a sturdy support to prevent a palm tree from falling into their roof and then failed to take care of the support itself with sufficent assiduity resulting in the said palm tree breaking free and falling into the roof. Hey ho, such is life.

Ok no more news. It is nearly time for bed as zebedee used to say. Might be quiet again for a day or two until we are on the move again.

PS mountie Jack asked to be remembered to you all although, right at this moment, I am not entirely sure where he is. He was on stage at a couple of my gigs and since then has been missing in action. I am sure he will turn up.
