Rain in France

 When you buy a motorhome

You never for one minute think, when you are looking at a motorhome that some days will rain. And it might continue to rain. And just when you think it is getting a little brighter your hopes are dashed with yet more rain. I am pleased to say however that the rain has now eased off to a steady downpour!

Actually there is more than a little hyperbole in the above but it has rained quite a lot today. We are still in France, well no surprise there, in a small town called Gujan-Mestras. We decided to walk to the next town today to get some shopping in between the showers. Sheila is now sleeping on the couch and I am relaxing in my chair. I am a bit more confident that we have enough data to share a few pictures so I am going to catch up a few of our travel pics on the route from Soria.

We left Soria and travelled to Logroño where we got a refil for our gas bottle and a couple of other campervan essentials at a campervan shop. We then drove on to Pamplona.
On route we passed an area that looked exaclty like it could be used for cowboy films. As usual the image does not really show the true spectacular nature of the place and we were almost past it by the time my assistant got the camera pointed in roughly the right direction.

We left Pamplona behind after only one night and headed towards France using the scenic route. It was pretty mountainous up over the edge of the Pyrenees through many Spanish and then French Villages. We were very obviously at one of the starts (there are many) of the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage routes because there were dozens, probably hundreds of walkers along the route. Most gave a cheery wave to the Kayak and it's intredpid occupants who were sailing along in the lap of luxury compared to the hikers. Good luck to them. It's a bloody long walk from here to Santiago de Compostela.

Typical villlage in France

After a long drive avoiding the motorways and tolls we arrived in Gujan Mestras where we set up camp for the night. Well we parked the Kayak actually if I am being honest here. Here are a couple of images from the riverside walk that starts right at the door of the Kayak.

Tranquil pool on one side of the weir

Turbulence abounds on the other

Tomorrow we are planning another travel day as we wind our way northwards through France. It's a lovely place but they all speak French which is somewhat of an inconvenience when you cannot even make an effort. I am afraid we don't know our parly voos from our scooby doos. Take care.
