FOUR go on an adventure

 La Road to Cuenca

Well did you guess our next destination correctly? We are now in Cuenca which has some spectacular buildings.  However, you'll have to wait to see them.

My dear friend Mr Google says   "Cuenca is a city set in the mountains of east-central Spain. Founded by Moors, it retains its Historic Walled Town with steep cobbled streets and medieval castle ruins. Perched on a limestone spur high above the Júcar and Huécar rivers, it's most famous for its well-preserved "casas colgadas," or hanging houses. Cantilevered over the Huécar gorge, they seemingly cling to the cliffs’ edges".

After we arrived we did a reccy into the town and we think we know what to do tomorrow to get the good views.

By the way you may have noticed that this post is called FOUR go on an adventure. It seems that Mountie Jack was somewhat dismayed and not at all happy about being left out and demanded to get a better view of the road ahead. He even insisted that I change the Blog name to FOUR go on an adventure. Here he is perched ready for the journey. who needs a dashcam when you have a Mountie Jack.

The journey from La Roda to Cuenca was uneventful. The roads were typically long and very straight and once again we felt like we were the only vehicle on the road. It was driving bliss. Cruise control set and have a little nap. I knew I had Mountie Jack to alert me should any trouble arise.

We parked up in another service area and walked into town. On arrival in Cuenca we were met by a massive plough on a plinth. It is the Rotunda de agricultura. The roundabout of agriculture. Probably the only culture available in this blog.
We walked on into town for a bit grabbing a few pictures along the way and I am sure you'll be excited to know that I managed to get another spectacular door picture for the door lovers amongst you. I hope you are not disappointed, it's a beauty.
Tomorrow we are planning to take the Tren de Turismo to see the sights and bring you the spectacular photos of the buildings that make up this amazing town. My chief blog critic has been on the warpath and has alerted me to many typos in my previous posts so if you are the grammar police and you want to go back and read them again, I think that they are all fixed. This blog doesn't spell check as you go, or even as you don't go, so they are bound to slip through twice in a while. I hope that you can forgive them and concentrate instead on what must be amongst the most magnificent missives you have read for at least the last five minutes.

Oh the tren, alas I digressed a bit there
I just caught the start of the tren, the engine bit, before the carriages came along. I thought, that's a funny looking car as it emerged from a side street but it turned out to be only the motive force part and a rather grand three carriage tren (that is not a typo by the way it is a Spanish train) followed behind (as they tend to do). Hopefully tomorrow you'll see the rest of it.

Here is a taster of some of the amazing buildings of this town to whet your appetite for tomorrow's edition of Three Four go on an adventure. These are not the most spectacular just in case you were worried. Wait till you see them, wait till YOU SEE THEM.

By the way Mountie Jack sends you his warmest regards and thanks you for your unwavering support in getting him formally recognised as part of this madventure (again not a typo). Night night.
